Manning Reserve
Junortoun Box Ironbark and grassy woodland remnant with local history, native plants and wildlife habitat.
Details
City of Greater Bendigo lists Manning Reserve on McIvor Highway, Junortoun. The official reserve page says it protects one of the area's last remaining fragments of Box Ironbark Forest and grassy woodland, with mixed eucalypts including Yellow Gum, Grey Box and Red Box, plus understorey and seasonal ground-layer species such as Spreading Cassinia, Gorse Bitter-Pea, Chocolate Lilies and Leopard Orchids. The page also records its 1942 creation by the Junortoun Progress Association on land donated by Thomas Manning, former community hall and tennis-court use, and resident or visiting bird and wildlife species. It adds a conservation and local-history stop without relying on a broader Goldfields tourism source.
