Barwon River Trail

City-listed riverside trail with more than 20 kilometres of sealed walking and cycling paths between Fyansford and South Geelong.

Greater GeelongBarwon River, Belmont VIC 3216 Source

Details

The current City trail page describes a continuous pedestrian and cycling network following both banks of the Barwon River between Fyansford and South Geelong. It links Queens Park, Barwon Valley Park, Belmont Common, Balyang Sanctuary and Buckley Falls, with parks, playgrounds, golf courses, wetlands, a waterfall and a waterbird sanctuary along the route. The southern path starts near the Buckley Falls car park, passes Queens Park and continues toward Barwon Valley Park, where play equipment and barbecue facilities are available. The northern path uses the Fyansford Common and Moorabool-Barwon river junction area before continuing to Balyang Sanctuary, the boatsheds, John Landy Athletic Field and Breakwater Road. Treat it as a shared path: slow down when passing, use a bell on bikes, keep dogs controlled on leash unless signs say otherwise, and check the source before planning around access points, works or river conditions.
